JOLIET — State Senator Rachel Ventura has opened applications to her Page for a Day program for high school students in the 43rd district. This program gives students the opportunity to participate in the legislative process and gain firsthand insight into the day-to-day functions of state government.
“Civic engagement among young people is something we should be encouraging and supporting however we can,” said Ventura (D-Joliet). “Not only will students who participate in this program get an up-close-and-personal view of state lawmaking, they’ll also gain valuable experience that will give them an advantage in their further education and future careers.”
Selected pages will spend the day in the Senate Chamber and attend committee meetings with Senator Ventura. The student’s duties would also involve delivering correspondence and legislative materials, taking messages, and assisting with the daily operations of the chamber.
To apply for this program, students must complete a Google Form to indicate their interest, and must have availability all day on the date of their choosing. The dates open for the program are Feb. 25, March 4, March 25, and April 15, 2026.
All submissions should be completed via the Google Form by Dec. 31, 2025. Selected students will be contacted via email for an interview in January. The exact date of the interview will follow the submission of all required information.
Students selected to be a Page for a Day will then receive a permission slip that their parents or guardians must sign and return via email or drop off at Senator Ventura’s Joliet office. All information must be submitted on time and completed in full to be considered.
Anyone with questions about the Page for a Day Program should contact Senator Ventura’s office by phone 331-290-0443 or email
