SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Rachel Ventura released the following statement after a verdict was reached in the trial of former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan:
“The verdict given today will allow the General Assembly to move forward from past corrupt behaviors and continue the process of rebuilding public trust in our government.
“I remain committed to upholding the integrity of an open and honest government. Through legislation, I am working to advance transparency and ensure fair and equal elections. It is pivotal we place these values at the crux of the work we do on behalf of our constituents.
“We must restore faith with the people we are representing. I will advocate and continue to pursue pathways that reforge this trust. We work for the people, and we must make that clear. Today’s verdict is a step in the right direction of reaffirming our principles in accountability.”
