ROMEOVILLE – State Senator Rachel Ventura is partnering with State Representative Dagmara Avelar, Romeoville Mayor John Noak, and other elected officials to host a turkey and ham giveaway on Thursday, Dec. 18 in Romeoville.
“Every family deserves a quality home-cooked meal during the holidays,” said Ventura (D-Joliet). “At a time when countless Americans are experiencing unexpected food insecurity, it is essential for us to step up and provide assistance to those in need to ensure our neighbors have a festive and joyful holiday season.”
The giveaway will be held at the Romeoville Village Hall Parking Lot located at 1050 W. Rodeo Rd. on Thursday, Dec. 18 from 4-5:30 p.m. while supplies last. The giveaway will be conducted drive-through style and one turkey or ham will be provided per household.
“With so many families recovering from the federal administration’s interruption of SNAP benefits, grocery prices continuing to rise, and small retailers closing their doors amidst illegal raids—there’s many of us unable to put a holiday meal on the table this Thanksgiving,” said Avelar (D-Romeoville). “But our community has come together stronger than ever to tackle food insecurity this season. I encourage our residents experiencing challenges to join us for our turkey and ham giveaway on Dec. 18 to make this time a little easier for families on strapped budgets.”
“We’re happy to partner with our state senators, representatives, and community organizations to assist those in need,” said Noak. “It is a great reminder that the holidays are also about helping others.”
